Winter Styling: Designer Tips to Create that Cosy Retreat!

Brrrr the nights are definitely getting colder aren’t they!

Let’s talk about winter styling. It’s only fitting that with a season change comes a styling change. There are lots of ways of creating that cosy feeling in your home without breaking the bank. Here are my top 3 tips to level up your home styling this winter.

1. Layering - By adding extra layers to your beds and sofas you will create a cosy look and feel. These layers could include things like extra cushions, throw blankets, flannelette sheets the list goes on. You can lift your game even more by making sure the items you choose have some texture to them, think chunky throw blankets and textured cushions, you will thank me on those cold winter nights when you are snuggling on the couch with the kiddies. Mixing different textures and materials will create more interest and give your space depth.

2. Lighting - Adding more lighting to your spaces can create a calm and relaxing vibe. Things like table lamps, floor lamps and candles, this will create a moody ambiance. You should include lots of different types of lighting throughout your home.

3. Rugs - Layering up your rugs gives you somewhere warm to put your feet when your step out of bed on those cold mornings. They create definition and help to zone spaces as well as adding depth and warmth. Try adding a rug with lots of texture!

4. Cushion inserts - Try adding feather inserts to your cushions, this will make them fluffy and give your a more luxurious feel in your space.

5. Scent - An oil defuser or a new scented candle will add that extra element to the space.

Use these tips to transform your cold space into a warm cosy retreat!
